New Zealand Superfine Merino
Over the past ten years this Superfine Merino fabric has been responsible for totally redefining New Zealand’s woollen garment industry. Using state of the art spinning technology from Korea this 18.5 micron merino was the true starting point of turning heavy, coarse woollen clothing into soft, light, non scratch, non itch garments. It reintroduced wool as a versatile and friendly to wear, next-to-skin fabric.
As a natural fibre Superfine Merino has two very real performance benefits. It can control the level of moisture within each fibre to keep you warm in cold temperatures and cool in hot temperatures. It can also absorb and disguise body odour allowing garments to be worn continually for days.
The construction of our 190 gram/m², single jersey, 18.5 micron Superfine merino has remained unchanged for over a decade. The fabric is renowned for its stability. Even with constant machine washing and wear our Superfine garments will not lose shape, shrink or pill. Soft as your favourite cotton T-shirts, the strength and durability of the fibre ensures they will last much longer.
Superfine Merino is an ideal next-to-skin fabric for travel or for anyone wanting the all day comfort and warmth of a natural fibre.
Technopile® Microfleece
Micro Fleece has a smooth, luxuriously soft feel. To construct the fabric, polyester micro fibres are knitted then milled and brushed to create extremely light velour. At the end of the process, the 150 gram/m² weight fabric has the equivalent warmth of one jumper.
Like standard fleece, the quality of Micro Fleece only shows with washing and wear. For this reason we only use Tecnopile® Micro Fleece, a fabric we source from the Pontetorto Mill in Italy.
Technopile’s brushed outer surface is very durable and will show no signs of pilling, scuffing or losing its shape even with constant washing and wear. The densely knitted construction ensures good moisture transfer and wind resistant properties. Fast drying, Micro Fleece can be used as a next-to-the-skin garment or a mid thermal layer. It makes an ideal lightweight jumper for travelling and active outdoors pursuits.

Great beanie. Warm, light, soft. Not too big, not too small. Very nice fit. Well done ESS!

For a beanie so light it kept my head and big ears really warm. It”s lightweight and dries quickly. It was the perfect companion to the neck gaiter on those cold nights up in the hills taking photos.

Awesome beanie! Light but super warm. I have quite a substantial head and the large fits perfect. Reversible is a bonus too. Cheers ESS!

Warmth for weight is superb – pulls down low over ears and back of neck in winter, fits really well under a helmet and doesn’t do that thing where hats slip over your eyes eventually – it is the best hat I have found for everything, low profile, and very comfortable and warm. Dries super quickly and stays warm even when pretty wet.
