  1. Rated 5 out of 5

After having bought many cold weather jackets over the years, I can easily say that this jacket is clearly the best quality and fit, Obviously a lot of design has gone into it and much feedback from people in the field has been taken in I suspect. Ultimately the top quality product.

Yes its expensive, but what cost do you place on comfort in the extreme cold. This jacket kept me warm in -47 celsius with just one layer underneath. A small nagging detail is that the zips were very hard to do up by yourself, each time I needed my wife to do my zip up and in some cases I simply used the velcro strip to hold it together. You really need extreme cold to benefit from this jacket as you become very warm in temps above -20c. Layers are a must. Arguably one of the best extreme cold jackets you can buy.

I originally bought this jacket for when I travel to cold countries. The coldest I have used it in has been -22.
You can really notice how this jacket keeps you nice and warm out of the elements.
I’d say it works best from about -10, as you do get hot
But you just adjust layers accordingly
Honestly a great Investmet I’m very glad I purchased this jacket . It’s been to several very cold countries in the past 12-14 months

    Carson C – April 28, 2017

I bought my ECW Antarctica Jacket two years ago for photography in the Swiss Alps and for travel in winter in northern Norway. It’s just brilliant – in fact, the only (very minor) criticism I could think of is that the jacket became a little too warm while dog-sledding, but it was easy to adjust the draw cords and zip to balance the temperature. In Arctic conditions the jacket is warm enough for just a couple of base layers. The cut is perfect for active use and the multiplicity of pockets makes it easy to store – and retrieve! – gloves, lenses and other bulky items. Fantastic quality that’s more than worth the cost

Our Story

Earth Sea Sky was formed in December 1990 when David teamed up with clothing designer, Sydney Mulligan. Between them they had more than 25 years experience in New Zealand’s outdoor clothing industry. This experience in design, production and sales was used to fill a growing need in the market for outdoor clothing that combined comfort, style and performance. David and Sydney introduced designs and colours that linked function and performance with great fit, attention to detail and fashion. Their first range of 20 garments included tramping jackets, oilskins, waterproof ski wear, 60/40 anorak windshells and Polartec thermal fleeces.

Since then, most of New Zealand’s outdoor clothing brands have taken their production offshore. Earth Sea Sky is committed to remaining New Zealand made. The Ellis family believes this is vital in maintaining the brand’s consistent quality and uniqueness.
