Pico Merino Beanie
We want to eliminate every last bit of fabric waste possible. Quality fabrics are expensive and we dont want to add to landfill. Where there are gaps in the pattern layout our designer thinks creatively and makes pattern pieces for items that use the gaps. Our merino Pico and Hand Warmers are two of these creations using merino fabric. Because they are fitted in where space occurs, the colour range is assorted.
The Pico can also be worn under a helmet.

Our Story
Earth Sea Sky was formed in December 1990 when David teamed up with clothing designer, Sydney Mulligan. Between them they had more than 25 years experience in New Zealand’s outdoor clothing industry. This experience in design, production and sales was used to fill a growing need in the market for outdoor clothing that combined comfort, style and performance. David and Sydney introduced designs and colours that linked function and performance with great fit, attention to detail and fashion. Their first range of 20 garments included tramping jackets, oilskins, waterproof ski wear, 60/40 anorak windshells and Polartec thermal fleeces.
Since then, most of New Zealand’s outdoor clothing brands have taken their production offshore. Earth Sea Sky is committed to remaining New Zealand made. The Ellis family believes this is vital in maintaining the brand’s consistent quality and uniqueness.

Very pleased with my little beanie, which will be useful outdoors and also while sleeping in a tent on cold nights. Mine came in a rusty red colour which is okay but not my favourite, but when I turned it inside out I discovered a beautiful cobalt blue which was a delightful surprise! Being reversible is definitely a nice feature.

Such a great hat. I had one and it went to who knows where. I loved it so much that I am here to order another. Fully reversible the Pico fits perfectly underneath my cycle helmet and is perfect for tramps or around town. On top of the functional features it feels good wearing a hat that helps safe the planet and contributes to those in need. I will spread the word and definitely will be back ordering more.

Wow – I ordered 5 of these – advance Christmas presents and a great way to help support Tairāwhiti – they arrived SUPER quickly and a lovely assortment of colours – loving the different colour in the reverse. They are wonderfully soft to wear and I will be ordering more . . .

Great little slimline beanie that looks great, feels great, and also fits comfortably under a bike helmet for the chilly days. In fact, it’s so great that since my partner had tried it on, I haven’t managed to wrangle it back off him so I need to pop in and get another one!
