First Layer Mid Weight

First Layer Mid-Weight is a 175 gram/m² fabric that offers superior warmth, exceptional moisture control and the best windproof and UV resistant properties in our First Layer range.

First Layer Mid-Weight has a bi-component construction. The soft, next-to-skin filament yarn on the inside surface is brushed to improve comfort and moisture transfer. The abrasion resistant, spun yarn on the outer surface is engineered to store and then disperse moisture. This double action moisture control improves the fabric’s thermal efficiency by keeping the fibres of the fabric touching the skin as dry as possible. Heat loss from conduction is kept to a minimum.

The moisture transferring properties are permanently etched onto the surface of the polyester fibres. This same life long process gives the fibre the ability to shed all odours and bacteria during washing.

Terms such as, “thermal conduction”, “moisture transfer” and “moisture dispersion” are important descriptive terms for efficient, high performance thermals.

All First Layer Mid-Weight garments have a relaxed fit. They are very durable and are the ideal base layer for all cold temperature extremes.
