Although I haven’t tested the jacket in earnest yet it kept me bone dry in a 1 hour walk out in the pouring, horizontal rain. I love the length (mid-thigh) that ensures good coverage over the back-side! It’s roomy enough to wear layers underneath, and the length of the sleeves means you can hide the hands inside. All pockets are thoughtfully located and it’s brilliant to have both side and front access pockets. Options to adjust the jacket around the hood, wrists, and waist means you can fit to your shape. I definitely recommend spending that little bit more to get this quality designed jacket.

Extremely happy with this Jacket. The length, the fit and even the weight for a fully waterproof and hardwearing tramping Jacket. Protects not only from Torrential rain but also from bitterly cold biting winds. Good protection around the shoulders, most I’ve had always seem to give first in the shoulders with the weight of a heavy pack. It’s worth the money considering other Jackets/Coats on the market and I’ve been through a few and its fully NZ made. I don’t know what took me so long to decide to purchase one of these. Thanks so much ESSky.

I love this jacket, I’ve just ordered a replacement for one I’ve had for many years. The best thing for me is the durability, it seems to last much better than other jackets I’ve had previously. It performed really well in very tough conditions – wearing every day in the subantarctic islands for months at a time, bush bashing through really thick vegetation in very wet and cold conditions. I also love the design, particuarly the length and the top pocket. I highly recommend this jacket!

Wonderful jacket! I take this on my tramping adventures in NZ all the time (over my Arcteryx Beta LT jacket), it is slightly bulkier and heavier. However, I just love it – the length is great – keeps the bum dry, fully waterproof and windproof! And the pockets are of a good size and easily accessible. I have always received compliments when wearing this jacket (I have the red one)! Well done ESS!

Absolutely magical garment. Rolls up small enough to fit in the chin pocket of a 25L day pack and performs like nothing else I’ve ever owned. This jacket kept me dry crossing Tongariro on a day it was pouring rain and cold enough to see sleet at Red Crater (not my first crossing). Gore-Tex gaiters were sodden by Blue Lake and I started to hear the water in my wool socks around Ketetahi Springs; 4.5 hours of being aggressively rained upon and the only moisture inside this jacket was from my own sweat. At the end of that day there wasn’t a drop of moisture on any of the film I’d carried in the chest pocket, and everything in my very not-waterproof leg bag was miraculously dry. Essential kit for the deranged landscape photographer – cannot rate highly enough.
