Care
- Warm wash
- Mild detergent
- Do not bleach, dry clean or iron.
- Do not use fabric softener.
- Fabric will be touch dry at the end of the washing cycle, any residual dampness will air dry.
- Maybe tumble dried, cool setting only, for a very short time.
- Fabric softeners reduce the moisture transfer and breathability properties of the fleece by coating the polyester fibres with a lubricant. They should be totally avoided.
Our Story
Earth Sea Sky was formed in December 1990 when David teamed up with clothing designer, Sydney Mulligan. Between them they had more than 25 years experience in New Zealand’s outdoor clothing industry. This experience in design, production and sales was used to fill a growing need in the market for outdoor clothing that combined comfort, style and performance. David and Sydney introduced designs and colours that linked function and performance with great fit, attention to detail and fashion. Their first range of 20 garments included tramping jackets, oilskins, waterproof ski wear, 60/40 anorak windshells and Polartec thermal fleeces.
Since then, most of New Zealand’s outdoor clothing brands have taken their production offshore. Earth Sea Sky is committed to remaining New Zealand made. The Ellis family believes this is vital in maintaining the brand’s consistent quality and uniqueness.

Lovely piece of garment that truly “kills” the wool vs polyester debate… get this and get the best of both worlds!
Great at wicking out moisture from sweat while retaining body heat. I’ll love to grab a few more next time there is a sale!

I’m currently at the 2024 Youth Winter Olympics in South Korea in temperatures ranging from 0 to -10. I have worn the Power Wool Zip for 5 days in a row and there is literally no odor smell! Very impressed. This zip is the most comfortable merino blend I have worn, I’m tempted to get another. Very warm for how light it feels. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars

This fabric is the best compromise of qualities that I have found for a base layer in over 40 years of experience. Have been happy wearing this for days at a time. Moisture wicking is excellent, better than pure merino, close to the better wicking synthetics. Good warmth for weight. Despite the synthetic content, the odor control is very good. Not as perfect as pure merino for odor, but just slightly more noticeable, never truly stinks, and much better than any other fabric. Much the same in this regard as those merino t-shirts that come with around 20% nylon. Durability is substantially better than pure merino. Feels nice and smooth against the skin. The design with collar and zip is spot on, the length is generous, and the cut and sizing in medium are perfectly on point. Visiting NZ this week and will be heading down to ESS for another one of these this week.
