Latest from John - August 2004....

Holland Ironman Triathlon.
Another stunning result from John when he completed last month in the Almere Holland Ironman Triathlon......" I nipped just under the magic mark of 10 hours (9.59.55, for which a final somewhat agonising sprint was required) and won my agegroup by 30 minutes.
The course involved:
3.8 km swim in 16 degrees waters - 53 mins
180kim bike - 5hrs 23 mins
42 km marathon - 3hrs 38 mins
Thanks to Earth Sea Sky for saving my life several times in the weeks prior to the event training during the coldest Canterbury winter and wettest Dutch summer for some time. I had the First Layer thermal wear ready to protect me also during the
race only to find race day to be relatively pleasant and above all, dry!"
