Penrith - Australia - April 05.
Anyways life has been moving fast. I spent two weeks over summer in the wild west coast paddling some awesome rivers, managed to get 4 heli trips in, which was tops. The West Coast is the Raglan (surfing) of kayaking in NZ!!!

"I have moved to Penrith, Australia to train in preparation for the World Championships in September. Several reasons: more competition, familiarise
myself with the course, and more people to train with. I am still studying full-time (extramurally) and have a job.So yes still living life to the Max. I
am planning a trip to California for June/July, doing some big creeks and maybe an extreme race if I can sneak one in. Totally dependant on if I can
save enough cash in the meantime but it is in the goals bucket.

"The Nationals should be a good event, I have just taken to my kayak with a saw as they have made the minimum length 50cm shorter!! It was exciting and scary at the same time. Today was my first day in the shortened boat and I love it. It turns quicker, boofs better, and is much easier to control.

Heathers Earth Sea Sky Essentials

JetstreamMercurySpiceSlipstreamLong Johns Hipsters
Most worn items, in order from most worn..

Jetstream. I wear this everywhere, it can be casual and dressy, it has excellent wind protection and can be worn in light rain.

Mercury. I used it relentlessly in the south island, it is superb underneath the waterproof cagtops as it is comfy, warm and so light! However, when I wear it solo, it gets wet and just hangs off me. If I paddle with it on and nothing else it would be better if it was super tight so that it moves with my skin, if you get the picture as otherwise it gives an odd feeling and can make you conscious of it hanging off you.

Spice. Until the Jetstream this was my most worn item, it is still a favourite as you can wear it in all sorts of weather, it is light, very cosy and looks great. Unfortunately this one has dissapeared when I let a slavakian paddler wear it because she was freezing on the west coast and she forgot to give it back to me.

Slipstream. This is warm, light and very practical, great to wear when on a mission, I like the fact it is semi waterproof to. This has allready become
useful in australia with the weird rain they have.

Longjohns. These became a hot item in the West Coast as well, where the rivers are freezing and you need to wear longjohns and waterproof pants if
you have them. You take a swim on the Upper Perth or the Waitaha and these are called lifesavers!!!!
